Faith issues (such as having Halaal or Kosher butchers, or even Christian doctors not performing abortions) already have specific caveats in civil law. His analysis of the future role of sharia (Islamic) law in contemporary British civil produced an overwhelmingly negative reaction from the UK press – something which can only be put down to a combination of paranoid and uneducated (Dr Williams does use academic/philosophical/theological language) editors. The cartoon was first published in the BT, 14/02/08.
